Stella Sio
Stella Sio is an English Language Teaching Assistant at the English Language Centre. She has a BA in Chinese-English translation and interpretation, and a MA in English Linguistics. Her research interests mainly lie in Linguistics, Applied Linguistics, Translation Theories and Practices, and Multimodal Translation. Stella has experience as an IELTS/English tutor for a variety of students. She looks forward to working with all UM students.

Kate Luo
Kate is a visiting instructor at the English Language Centre. She focused on literary studies during her BA in English, and pursued her Master in Applied Linguistics. Her research interests include psychoanalytic criticism and sociolinguistics. Kate is experienced in signposting students to resources and support. She is looking forward to seeing you in appointments and to having an amazing time together at ELC!

Mollie Yuan
Mollie Yuan has achieved a BA in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) and a MA in English Studies. Her passion for education motivates her to help students achieve outstanding academic writing performance on some English proficiency tests, like IELTS/PTE/TOFEL. Her research interests lie in postcolonial studies, Romanticism, and ecological literature. Mollie looks forward to helping students with English learning, and appointments from students will be highly appreciated.

Miranda Ma
Miranda Ma is the coordinator of the English Writing and Communication Centre. She has an MA in TESOL and English (Rhetoric & Composition concentration) and a BA in English Studies. Miranda’s professional interests lie mainly in second language writing, peer review, and writing center administration & pedagogy.

Alice Lee
Alice S. Lee is a senior instructor at the University of Macau, where she has been teaching since 2004. Alice has a PhD in English (Composition and TESOL) from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. She enjoys talking about writing and working with multilingual student writers.

Teresa Lam
Teresa Lam is a Senior Language Instructor at the ELC. She holds a Master of Education in Social Education and a Bachelor in English Studies. Before joining the ELC, she taught General English and English for Specific Purposes (ESP) courses to undergraduates in different tertiary institutes in Macao. Teresa also has experience with a variety of students, ranging from primary students to adults. She is particularly interested in educational technology, learner motivation and learning styles.

Azita Kuok
Azita Kuok is an ELC instructor who mainly teaches University English (EELC1012) and looks forward to give speaking or writing consultations to improve students’ English by helping them to identify their problems and giving them suggestions for making improvement.

Alan Chan
Alan Chan is an Instructor at the English Language Centre of the University of Macau. He received his MA in Applied English from the University of Macau. He used to teach high school English and worked as the panel chairperson. His research interest includes pragmatics, semantics, EFL/ESL pedagogy, and language learning anxiety.

Joshua Lee
Joshua is a Senior Instructor at the ELC. He has a M.A. TESOL in English from San Francisco State University. As a graduate student, he worked as a writing tutor at the Learning Assistance Center. He also coached students for public speaking competitions. Additionally, he has judged speaking and writing competitions.

Jean-Paul “Duke” DuQuette
Jean-Paul “Duke” DuQuette is a senior instructor at the ELC. He has an M.A. in ESL from the University of Hawaii and an Ed.D from Temple University (Japan). He is interested in online education and communities, PC gaming and music.
